(October 2016 - present)
I'm currently working as member of a distributed development team,
maintaining and enhancing a complex KYC (Know Your Customer) due diligence solution for
Equiniti.
The platform is used by many well-known banks to store compliant customer data, calculate risk and do background checks.
It integrates with multiple corporate registries like UK Companies House, Dun&Bradstreet, Lexisnexis and GBR.
The main application is supported by multiple microservices.
Our team strives to write the cleanest code possible, code reviews are mandatory, performance, security and stability are key goals.
More info about this project here.
Taking a 3 month break in summer of 2020 from the KYC world I participated in reviving an older project of our company,
Jobshark.
This is a job sharing platform with a twist.
What sets it apart from its competitors is the ability to allow advertisers to embed our interactive widget to any site.
My role was reviewing the current state of the application and come up with recommendations on how to progress.
I also took part in updating all the project's dependencies.
During the 2020 lockdown I also took part in migrating our own company website
arnia.com
and one of our partner's website
timesnewroman.ro
to Wordpress.
My role was mainly writing various migration scripts to import all the content from the old CMSs into the new Wordpress instances.
(2019 - 2020)
In my spare time during 2019 I helped out one of the leading structural engineering companies in the country with a renewed website.
Since I could not find a suitable light-weight CMS to meet their needs, I decided to implement my own solution using Laravel.
This project also involved design, consultation and new hosting infrastructure.
(January 2015 - September 2016)
The aim of this project was creating an internal tool for clients and advisers to create, schedule, edit and manage reports.
It was a single-page Backbone app with 4 different API integrations.
My role was lead developer and created the app infrastructure.
Unfortunately I did not finish this project because I left the company before completion.
The most complex project I've worked on thus far. It involved continuous delivery,
many layers of automated testing and multiple API integrations.
We worked together and advised an off-shore team in the creation of wrapper APIs for the company's legacy services.
We then integrated these APIs in two Laravel applications with Angular front-end.
One for the call centre and one for the public.
My role was lead developer and together with my colleague we set up a Jenkins continuous delivery pipeline,
created the Laravel back-ends, unit tested all of our code,
created two Angular single-page apps and supported closely the automated tester.
We also created a pattern library for the brand using Fabricator.
Laravel site with Angular front-end for delivering online multi-car insurance quotes.
It integrates two SOAP APIs and one REST API. One app with two different styles for supporting both brands of the company.
My role was lead developer and mainly worked on the back-end integrations,
supporting my colleague on the Angular front-end when needed.
My first project on my own as developer. This tool made it possible for different departments of the company
to sign off media items (emails, flyers) before going live.
Moving this process from paper to digital was challenging but rewarding.
I was working closely with UX to develop straight from wireframes.
The result was a Laravel app with complex user roles and permissions which used Amazon S3 for file storage.
Laravel + Angular project which aimed to introduce everyone at the company to these frameworks.
It ended up being used daily by everyone.
It was a great project to establish best practices when working with these frameworks.
I also created a little NW.js wrapper for it so it could be used as a desktop application on Macs.
This was a Laravel project on which I worked on during quiet times in the office. It was an interesting insight into encryption and security.
Using Meteor and Angular was a perfect way to quickly develop a prototype for a start-up which tried
to manage all your online data from one place.
The prototype was packaged, shipped and demoed for potential investors.
It was my first time using Meteor as framework for hybrid apps.
During my time at The Unit I also did a few front-end only jobs, using our own CSS framework. Some of these you can see on the following URLs:
fidelity.co.uk(August 2014 - December 2014)
I joined The Unit as an intern in my last semester at university.
After a short time we started working on our own social media platform.
This was my longest project at the time which lasted for 6+ months with a team of 3 developers.
The project was about building a social forum with the latest web technologies, we used Laravel and Angular.
We also created our own CSS framework to support it.
This project taught me the basics of building large scale web applications and introduced me to Laravel,
which is still my favourite back-end solution.
The resulting product included feed generation, notifications, instant messaging using web-sockets,
self-service using the DigitalOcean API, content administration and subscriptions.
(February 2014 - July 2014)
I joined HvA as an exchange student for one semester in 2014. Our business case was to re-imagine PwC's intranet in order to encourage knowledge sharing using Web 2.0 technologies such as content creation, content curation and linked data. Our solution was only meant to exist in theory, but as a side-product I created a small website which gathered all the latest financial news from the big news companies' RSS feed. It was the first time I used Angular on the front-end.
(February 2013 - June 2015)
As my final exam project I did not seek clients in need of web solutions, but decided to come up with a start-up of my own. I wanted to create a platform for danish students to share ads on, instead of using Facebook groups. The platform made it possible to search, upload and view ads. Also to create profiles and comment on content. It was a Laravel project with Angular front-end. I was already working at The Unit at the time and worked on this in my free time.
As second semester exam project we had to find a client and develop a website for them. For the band Inouwee we had to capture the obscurity of their sound and visual identity. The product was a multi-page website with animations and CSS transitions. We also used PHP for the first time, for sessions, contact form and templating.
During the second semester we had to renew the brand and website for Karen Volf, a danish traditional pastries company in order to reach a new target audience. My role was leading the development of the website. We used Bootstrap to quickly create the one-page brochure site in less than 2 weeks.
As first semester exam project we had to use gamification to promote a company or organization. My role was implementing a canvas game in vanilla JS and creating the webpage to support it.
